Eroc and Jamie, I'm sure you've heard Animal Instincs, the amazing Boot from 77' where Snowy White shreds his Les Paul apart. (I'm going to have SOYCD I-IX from that show played at my funeral) Anyway, have you ever considered playing that show in it's entirety? It's the last time that they played Careful and the way they did everything from Have A Cigar to Pigs 3DO is simply brilliant. I bet people would pay real money if you were able to pull off a production of that show.

Ah yes...one of my fave Floyd shows ;D We have performed a close facsimilie of this show, which was captured on our 2005 DVD release "When Pigs Fly - Live in Cleveland 7/16/05 at Scene Pavilion" (and no, I didn't perform w/ the band at this time, however I do have a couple of cameos as I was one of Ziffel's wrangler's...this was the show where he made his debut!) The band did follow the 'live' version of 'Animals' (Sheep/POTW pt1/Dogs/POTW pt2/Pigs), while also performing the 'live' arrangements. I'm pretty sure that the Animal Instincts ROIO was the basis, and I'm positive that this was one of the first shows I shared w/ Eroc after meeting him (along w/ 'Supine In The Sunshine'). But, of course, you can check that all out for yourself below (along w/ the hiliarious commentary track from the band!), 'cause we do still have copies of the DVD available ;D floydtribute.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=223

Do it again! The begining of Have a Cigar at this show is the way it should always be done, IMHO
I'll get the DVD no Doubt. :-)

i downloaded this album, and i have to say that i dont really listen to all of the old floyd stuff other than Dark Side, and select songs from Wish You Were Here album, so i listened to this, and it is AMAZING!
that solo on Have A Cigar is great!, i never thought Snowy could play that well!

Try SOYCD part VII. I don't know why but David let Snowy do the solo and his Gibson sings at the 15 minute mark.
On an aside Snowy is a not so good singer but a wonderfiul guitarist. Buy some his stuff with the Flames.

I saw that show from the rail several times from Cleveland to Toronto to Houston and Roger let him shine. Keep in mind the band has three guitarists and a Bass player. You gotta let em all loose. Snowy did a great job IMHO.

PULSE....you MUST dive deeper into the Floyd catalog. There is so much more than Darkside and the post-Rog stuff! I'm assuming you've heard the Wall (if not, you should)....but WYWH is a great album and the others we discussed in the other thread....but my all-time favorite Floyd album is Animals, you must hear it! I like it's concept the best and the music/lyrics. Give it a whirl, and soon! The only albums you may not like are Piper at the Gates and Saucerful--it took me a bit to get into them, but I always kind-of liked them from the start. And also The Final Cut....very Roger, very angry Roger lol. I like this album a LOT too....but not quite as Floydian-sounding as the rest. I guess I should also mention Atom Heart Mother......which I really like (esp the first track), but a few people--Mr. Gilmour himself, are not big fans of the album.....which I don't get from David. Just my thoughts tho.....these four I can get some people not liking (I guess... ), but the rest............you gotta check em out. As for Snowy....he's GREAT!! Especially in '75-'77....check out some of the videos from "8mm". He still rocks now too....he's pretty reserved on stage....doesn't show much flash, but he rips it out well. And the tone of his Gold Top is pretty amazing as well!! I've still yet to really check out anything beyond his Floyd playing Eric

Also....another great Animals tour thing to listen to:
July 4, 1977 @ MSG.....listen to Shine On You Crazy Diamond I-V.....first song second set. Dave RIPS the solo after the keyboard solo (right before the vocals). Prob my favorite concert solo of Dave's I've heard to date....or prob anyone else.....and the tone is melting which is prob why I love it so much. I wish I could've been there and heard what it sounded like for real!!! Typical guitar player tho....being WAY too loud lol......but sweet on this occassion!

PLPF,
No doubt the MSG show is a good one. Check out the last show of the tour in 77' on July 6th in Montreal. That show gave birth to the concept that became The Wall. The boot is called Who was trained not to spit on the Fan. :-) (Roger's infamous spitting on a fan at this show on July 6th)

it's just, i thought Pink Floyd felt more free without Roger IMHO, and i think Gilmour felt more at home with him leading the band. his solos were extended greatly after Roger left, and i thought they were better that way. i started listening to some of their older stuff, and i like the songs, but i think the solos were not as good as some of them from Gilmour's '06 tour, and the Pulse tour.

That's the same show but tweaked a bit. Harvested is working on an even better version believe it or not. That May 9th show is by far the best of the In the Flesh tour, IMHO. As mentioned by others here, there are some really good recordings of that tour. That website is invalueable to many of my friends. For a change of pace check out some of the podcasts of Mixes of Floyd. Dream Mix (#99 ) is one great one and there are others. Enjoy.
