So, who's all going besides JC, Eroc, PikoJoeATD, Irv, TE, and myself? I'm hitting Chicago Night 2 and Cleveland (possibly, but doubtfully, a Philly show). Pretty excited about it, but not as excited as my sister who has been listening to "The Wall" a LOT in preparation and got so into singing 'The Trial' on her way to Purdue this past Wednesday that she didn't see the car in front of her come to a stop on the off ramp (she said it went, "The evidence befor **BANG!** the court is....").
Anyways, when I drove home from her graduation Sunday I listened to another recent purchase: "Amused to Death". While I've heard most songs off of this album, and am real familiar with about half, I don't know that I've ever listened to the album. If I have, it was when I was first getting into Floyd, good music, and becoming a musician....so I didn't know much. This album blew me away! Shockingly, What God Wants Pt 1 was not the WGW song Joe got me into (rather Pt 2), but holy f-, that guitar WAILS on Pt 1!! I've also 'never' heard Perfect Sense, Bravery, or Miracle off of the album, rather their live counterparts from the ITF tours. I really like the production and the incorporation of the keys and the orchestrated material (I'm a huge fan of movie scores, etc.)...plus it's a pretty great concept piece (which I like the art of, even if I do not concur with some of Rog's ideologies). (Which a little sidenote: I now would LOVE to hear WYWH do 'Bravery'....what a great song!)
Anyways, as I listened to the album, I got all psyched up--prob during 'Bravery'--thinking, "hmm, maybe Roger will incorporate a few pieces from ATD into the Wall?" I've been kind of wondering what other elements they will add, per Rog, and I began to think that despite the enormity of this production, there has to be more music! I mean WYWH plays at least an extra set when they do the Wall, so what will Rog add? Unfortunately, I realized a little later how vital the female vocalists are in ATD, and with the announcement that the girls are staying home, that plan seems crushed. However, I do think we will see some "Final Cut" material, and hopefully 'What Shall We Do Now?'.
What are you guys hoping to hear beyond "The Wall"?
Eric
